Happy Monday!~ I hope everyone had a great weekend.
Halloween is coming up, so I spent some time this weekend trying to create a scary, bloody nail look. While I didn’t achieve the bloody look I was going for… I was quite pleased with this beautiful black and glittery red look I created using the sponge nail method!

Many of you ‘liked’ the look on Instagram and Facebook, so I decided to do a tutorial. As always, thanks for all your feedback.
Just like my Splatter Paint Nail Tutorial, this look can be customized to match any outfit, holiday, or event! The best part is that the sponge gradient look is super easy to create and totally worth trying.

Sponge Gradient Nail Tutorial!
You’ll need 2 polish colors and a makeup sponge. I chose Orly in Jet Black and Sally Hansen in Red Carpet. I suggest using a glittery polish as your gradient color. The sparkly glitter makes the look glamorous when paired with the solid black polish.
- Start with a base coat followed by 1-2 coats of black polish.
- Drop a few drops of your glitter polish onto a paper plate and dab onto the edge of your sponge ~or~ put the polish directly onto your sponge.
- Take the glitter polish and *tap, tap, tap* from about 1/3 down your nail all the way to the tips. Let dry. Apply a 2nd coat just focused on the very tips. If you get any polish on the sides, just clean up with nail polish remover.
- Finish off with a top coat like Seche Vite and you’re done!
I hope this tutorial inspires you to give this easy nail art a try!
Until next time, stay pretty… inside and out.
What color combinations will you try?!

That’s great! It’s really easy. If you want more control, dip the corners of the sponge into the polish. This will give you better placement. Good luck!!!
