I’ve heard good things about Almay’s eye makeup remover and have been seeing a ton of ads for a new line called Simple. So I decided to pair these two brands in my eye make up remover challenge!
Eye Make Up Remover Challenge
Challenge: Remove myface cosmetics liquid liner, Make Up For Ever Aqua Eyes Liner, MAC Moisturecover Concealer and Benefit Bad Gal Lash
Almay Oil Free Liquid Makeup Remover ($5.99 for 4.0 oz): “America’s #1 eye makeup remover brand. Gentle oil-free liquid removes all traces of makeup without irritation. Botanical blend of aloe, cucumber and green tea nourishes lashes and delicate skin. Makeup is swept away without irritation. Perfect for contact lens wearers. Great for waterproof mascara!”
Simple Eye Make-up Remover ($6.99 for 4.2 oz): “Our Eye Make-up Remover effectively removes even waterproof mascara, plus it’s a perfect blend of our purest possible skin loving ingredients with an added vitamin.”

I held the cotton pad to the swatches for a few seconds, then wiped the area a few times to remove the makeup.

So it looks like both Almay and Simple were not able to remove Make Up For Ever’s Aqua Eyes Liner completely, but Almay removed more of it.
I noticed that Almay did a better job overall in ‘melting’ the makeup. Strange, but Almay left traces of myface’s matte liquid liner, but Simple removed it completely.
Recommendation: Between these two, it’s a close call… but I would probably recommend Almay just because it removed more of the Make Up For Ever’s Aqua Eyes Liner. Plus, it’s cheaper per ounce.
I’m not convinced that these are the best out there, so I’ll continue my search and will keep you posted.

I have been using the Estee Lauder Gentle Eye Makeup Remover for quite some time now and I never have any issues removing the Makeup Forever Aqua Eyes Liner. It is oil free too which I like. I included the link below. It is $18.00 for 3.4 oz so a little pricey but well worth it in the end because you don’t have to use as much because it comes off so easily.

I’ve been using the Almay remover pads since forever and recently tried the CVS drugsture version and it was the worst. The CVS pads burned my eyes! Needless to say I’ve went back to my trusty Almay. For waterproof makeup I use L’Oreal makeup remover and it does an excellent job!

Sometimes… you get what you pay for right?!? But good effort in trying out the generic brands. I’ve done that too, but most of the time… they fall short
Of well, at least we give them a fair shot. xoxo.

Hi! When I ran out of my Avon Moisture Effective Makeup Remover ($0.99 for 2 oz.) I ended up choosing a” blue liquid” from Walmart ($8 probably generic). As good as the Walmart product was, I was happy to get restocked with the Avon product. Ounce for ounce the Avon is much more inexpensive and I am really happy with its performance. Well, that’s my two cents

Wow. That’s a great value. Does it work well? I’ll have to keep that one in mind for the next challenge.
